Professor Yu Jintai's Neurology Team at Huashan Wins First Prize of Shanghai Science and Technology Progress Award

At the Shanghai Science and Technology Awards Conference held on the morning of July 2, the 2025 Shanghai science and technology award list was announced. The project titled Establishment and Application of New Strategies for the Precision Prevention, Diagnosis and Treatment of Alzheimer's Disease, with Professor Yu Jintai of the Department of Neurology at Huashan Hospital as first completer, won the first prize of the Shanghai Science and Technology Progress Award. The team mapped the modifiable risk factors for Alzheimer's disease, defined the optimal intervention parameters for modifiable risk factors such as diet and sleep, and led the development of an international evidence-based prevention protocol for Alzheimer's disease, which has been used by the World Health Organization (WHO) and others in formulating prevention strategies.

They innovatively mapped the plasma proteome of human health and disease, enabling prediction of Alzheimer's disease years in advance from a single drop of blood, and discovered new cerebrospinal fluid markers such as YWHAG. They also identified the therapeutic targets TREM1, TREM2 and MS4A6A and advanced their clinical translation. The related achievements have been commercialized and rolled out at hospitals and companies across the country.
