Ruijin Hospital and Huawei Cloud Unveil RuiPath 2.0 Pathology Foundation Model

At the 2026 Medical Artificial Intelligence Innovation Forum held in Shanghai under the theme of digital-intelligent symbiosis and cloud-empowered pathology, Ruijin Hospital and Huawei Cloud officially released RuiPath 2.0, a pathology large model that brings five major upgrades in performance, diagnostic capability, interpretability of pathological diagnosis, training data for rare diseases and lightweight deployment. The model covers 19 common cancer types, with diagnostic tasks increased to 205, covering more than 90 percent of pathologists' daily diagnostic scenarios. Its accuracy in diagnosing the presence or absence of lymphoma reaches 96.48 percent.
The base model achieved industry-leading SOTA performance on 42 of 59 downstream diagnostic tasks, outperforming top overseas pathology foundation models. The lightweight version, RuiPath 2.0 Edge, has only 2 million parameters and can be deployed directly on an ordinary hospital PC for minute-level inference. Ning Guang, president of Ruijin Hospital, noted that building a pathology foundation model is like constructing a highway leading to primary care institutions.
To date, more than 90 hospitals nationwide have adopted the RuiPath pathology large model.
