Shanghai Children's Medical Center Sweeps 2026 Shanghai Health Science Communication Program with Four Approved Projects

The Shanghai Municipal Health Commission has released the list of approved projects for its 2026 municipal health science communication program. Shanghai Children's Medical Center, which also serves as the National Center for Children's Health, had four projects approved at once, a clean sweep of the program's categories. The flagship "Leadership and Enhancement" project, "Planting Trees of Light, Nurturing a Forest for the Future," builds an innovative science communication ecosystem spanning the full disease cycle of sight-threatening childhood eye diseases, led by Professor Zhou Huifang, head of ophthalmology.

The youth innovation project "Smart Health, Healthy Steps" uses artificial intelligence to improve weight-related health literacy among children and adolescents, led by Dr. Liu Yunman of the Department of Clinical Nutrition. The public health priority project "Great Skin, Great Me," headed by Deng Dan, director of dermatology, covers 30 high-frequency skin problems in children and adolescents.

A fertility-friendly communication project led by Ding Yu, deputy director of the Department of Endocrinology, Genetics and Metabolism, has built the first knowledge map of childhood fertility protection covering seven risk categories, distilled more than 50 blind-spot topics for the public, and developed China's first science communication resource package for caregivers.
