Shanghai Children's Medical Center Wins Gold at the Second National Health Sector Youth Innovation Competition

The results of the Second "Chuang Qingchun" National Health Sector Youth Innovation Competition have been announced, and a youth team from Shanghai Children's Medical Center won the gold award. The winning project, an assessment technology based on a pediatric version of the patient-reported common terminology criteria for adverse events, was led by Sun Jiwen, a nurse-in-charge in the nursing department. Targeting the clinical pain point of treatment-related adverse reactions in children with cancer, the team focused on the predictive value of child self-reported outcomes and successfully developed a standardized adverse-event assessment system tailored to children.

Through real-time, dynamic monitoring of adverse reactions, it overcomes the bottlenecks of conventional management in precise measurement and timely intervention, significantly improving the safety of pediatric cancer treatment and children's quality of life. The project had earlier won silver at the Shanghai health sector youth innovation competition and was accredited as a "Hai Shang Nursing" women's featured nursing innovation studio. Several projects from Guizhou Hospital and Hainan Hospital also received awards.
