Shuguang Hospital Pharmacy Department Excels at the 2026 Shanghai Pharmacy Skills Competition

The final of the 2026 Shanghai Pharmacy Skills Competition, focused on pharmacy outpatient clinics, was held on August 21 and 22. Jointly organized by the Shanghai Municipal Health Commission and the Shanghai Medical Workers' Union and hosted by the Shanghai Pharmaceutical Association, the competition drew 622 registered pharmacists citywide, with 578 taking part in the online preliminary round and 60 advancing to the final. Shuguang Hospital received an Excellent Organization Award.

Pharmacist-in-charge Huang Yan, teaming with pharmacists from Yueyang Hospital and Pudong New Area People's Hospital, won second prize in the team category, and also took third prize individually. Deputy chief pharmacist Chang Xinnan, together with pharmacists from Jinshan District Hospital of Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine and Zhoupu Hospital, won third prize in the team category and received an individual Excellence Award. The competition formed an important part of the Shanghai division of the 8th National Health System Vocational Skills Competition and comprised four segments: a comprehensive written test, case practice, a knowledge quiz and a creative presentation.

The hospital's pharmacy outpatient clinic now operates at both its east and west campuses, providing one-on-one medication assessment and guidance for patients.
