A Century of Grace, Staying True to the Original Aspiration: Youth League Launches the '100 Years, 100 Hours' Volunteer Program

As 2026 marks the centennial of Huadong Hospital, the hospital's Youth League, together with the outpatient and emergency department and the social work department, launched the "100 Years, 100 Hours" volunteer service relay, organizing young League members to serve on the front line. Two phases of activities were completed in March and July this year, involving 76 young participants and a total of 100 service hours, covering scenarios such as outpatient guidance and accompaniment for examinations. In the first phase in March, 30 young volunteers served as "mobile guides" at the first-floor entrances and self-service kiosks, helping elderly patients register, pay, print reports and find their way, while also easing their anxiety.
The second phase in July extended service to the waiting area for contrast-enhanced CT scans in the radiology department, with volunteers in orange vests and the number of participants rising to 46. They proactively reminded patients about confirming pre-examination contraindications, removing metal objects and remaining for observation after the scan, helping to relieve anxiety among elderly patients. The program will gradually expand to areas such as the geriatrics and rehabilitation medicine departments.
