Professor Liu Linshuang of Longhua Hospital Oncology Honored as 2026 “Shanghai Medical Craftsman”

The 2026 “Shanghai Medical Craftsman” selection has been announced, and Professor Liu Linshuang of Longhua Hospital's Department of Oncology is on the list. With 37 years in clinical practice, she has excelled across clinical care, teaching and research, and is highly accomplished in TCM and integrated TCM-Western oncology. Building on the “reinforcing healthy qi to treat cancer” academic philosophy of TCM master Liu Jiaxiang, her team conducted high-quality evidence-based research: a prospective randomized controlled trial showed that comprehensive treatment centered on TCM significantly prolonged disease-free survival compared with adjuvant chemotherapy in patients with stage Ib–IIIa non-small cell lung cancer after surgery, reducing the risk of recurrence and metastasis by 27%, and the team explained the mechanism of qi-reinforcing prescriptions from the perspectives of immune killing and immune escape.

She has led 10 projects, including the National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine's major difficult-disease integrated TCM-Western clinical collaboration project, won four provincial or ministerial science awards, and published over 110 papers in core journals and SCI-indexed journals. Listed by CNKI among the top 1% most-cited scholars, she has trained nearly 50 advanced TCM professionals and played a leading role in keeping Longhua Hospital's oncology discipline ranked first nationwide in TCM oncology academic influence.
