Shanghai Children's Hospital Wins Two Honors at the 2026 Shanghai Medical Science Awards

On May 26, 2026, the defense meeting for first-prize candidates and the awards committee meeting determined this year's Shanghai Medical Science Awards: 7 first prizes, 13 second prizes, 29 third prizes, 3 achievement promotion awards and 5 youth awards. Shanghai Children's Hospital received two of them. The project “Construction and Application of a Data-Intelligence-Driven, Full-Cycle, Tiered Health Management System for High-Risk Infants,” led by Professor Chen Jinjin of the Child and Adolescent Health Department, won a third prize, and the project “Research and Clinical Innovation, Application and Promotion of an Early Screening System for Kawasaki Disease,” led by Professor Huang Min of the Department of Cardiology, received the achievement promotion award.
The high-risk infant project applies a “developmental intelligent monitoring and management algorithm” and developed China's first diagnostic assessment tool for developmental dyslexia, obtaining two medical device approvals and 21 intellectual property rights. It led the formation of a specialty disease alliance covering 13 institutions nationwide and has helped 25 hospitals complete digital and intelligent upgrades of their child health departments, serving more than 100,000 children in total. The Kawasaki disease team's self-developed risk assessment software achieves early identification sensitivity of 89.7% and specificity of 83.2%.
