Professor Gu Jianying Receives 9th World Outstanding Chinese Physician Fok Ying Tung Award

On Sept. 19, the 2026 World Chinese Physician Annual Conference was held in Qingdao, where the ninth World Outstanding Chinese Physician Fok Ying Tung Award was presented at the opening ceremony. Professor Gu Jianying, Party Secretary of Zhongshan Hospital, Fudan University, received the honor.

Established by the council of the World Chinese Physician Association and funded by the Fok Ying Tung Foundation, the award is the only highest award for Chinese physicians worldwide. Gu is a chief physician in plastic surgery, a Grade-II professor and a doctoral supervisor who receives the State Council Special Allowance, and has been named an Outstanding Mid-Career Expert by the National Health Commission and a National Outstanding Hospital President, among other honors. She took the lead in building the first melanoma disease-specific database for the Chinese population and drew the world's first spatiotemporal evolution map of lymph node metastasis in acral melanoma.

She created the Meta Medical simulation clinic, built an AI plus healthcare ecosystem, and co-founded the MedBench 4.0 medical large model evaluation platform. At Zhongshan Hospital Xiamen, she advanced the construction of the national regional medical center into a national model.
