Ruijin Hospital Marks 119th Anniversary with Launch of Nine Diagnosis and Treatment Centers

Ruijin Hospital celebrated its 119th anniversary with the collective unveiling of nine diagnosis and treatment centers under its national medical center, namely the Cancer Center, the EPAT Endocrine Tumor Center, the Heart Center, the Liver Center, the Colorectal Center, the Complex Respiratory Disease Center, the Urinary Stone Disease Center, the Critical Care Center and the Trauma Center. Ning Guang, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and president of the hospital, said that breaking away from the department-based organizational structure and building a new medical service system based on diagnosis and treatment centers is the direction of their efforts. The Cancer Center integrates five core departments including radiotherapy and medical oncology to build a one-stop non-surgical oncology care system, and as of Oct.

9 the proton center had treated a cumulative total of 1,694 patients. The EPAT Endocrine Tumor Center, led by Professor Wang Weiqing, has established a diagnosis and treatment loop covering diagnosis, surgery, perioperative management, rehabilitation and long-term follow-up. Hospital stays for patients with functional adrenal tumors have been shortened from 14 days to 7 days, and for functional pituitary tumors from 21 days to 10 days, significantly reducing caregiving needs and costs.
