Renji Hospital Rolls Out "AI Escort Code" for Elderly Patients Under New Escort Care Policy

On July 4, Renji Hospital, in partnership with the Civil Affairs Bureau of Pudong New Area and Ant Health, launched an "AI Escort Code" service, responding to the new policy on medical escort services for the elderly through integration of digital and smart resources. Built on the technical foundation of "Ren Xiao'ai," the hospital's full-process AI medical assistant introduced in 2024, the service integrates outpatient services with public-interest escort resources, creating an online-offline escort model driven by both "human workers and artificial intelligence." Patients enter Renji's medical service account via Alipay or Ant Afu, complete registration and appointment booking through "Ren Xiao'ai," and then apply for a volunteer escort. Following review by the hospital, the request is routed to the "Pu Laohui" smart elderly care platform, which matches an escort worker and generates a dedicated "AI Escort Code." The code is accessible only to the assigned escort worker on the day of the visit.

It does not display sensitive information such as medical insurance codes and carries no payment authorization, and patients can terminate the sharing at any time.
