Hemodialysis Nursing Team Wins Silver at Second National Healthcare Industry Youth Innovation Competition
Results of the Second National Healthcare Industry Youth Innovation Competition, jointly organized by the National Health Commission and the Communist Youth League Central Committee, have been announced. The project "Innovative Nursing Series for Maintaining Patency of the Hemodialysis Lifeline," from the hemodialysis unit of Renji Hospital's Department of Nephrology, won the Gold Award in the Shanghai regional preliminary round and advanced to the national final as Shanghai's representative. Standing out from 3,632 entries nationwide, it ultimately claimed the Silver Award in the clinical nursing category.
The main contributors are Jiang Haiyan, Zhao Shiyu and Shi Jiayun, with Xi Huiqin and Zhang Haifen serving as supervising experts. Targeting pain points in dialysis care such as the tendency of arteriovenous fistulas to fail and the high rate of complications, the team created 10 patented innovations. One of them, a bleeding alarm device, has been successfully commercialized, with a cooperation agreement signed at the awards ceremony.
