Shuguang Hospital Selected as a Lead Review Unit of the Yangtze River Delta Clinical Research Ethics Alliance

On June 10, 2026, following recommendation by the Shanghai Municipal Health Commission and expert review, the Shuguang Hospital Ethics Committee was selected as one of the first lead ethics review committees of the Yangtze River Delta Integrated Development Clinical Research Ethics Alliance. It is the only traditional Chinese medicine hospital among the institutions selected this round. Shanghai chose 10 general hospitals and 8 specialized hospitals as first-batch member units.

Established in 1999, the Shuguang Hospital Ethics Committee obtained FERCAP international certification in 2011 and was among the first in China to receive CAP certification in 2015. It is a member of the Shenkang clinical research ethics committee alliance and one of two practice bases of the Shanghai Medical Ethics Association. Over the past five years the hospital has led more than 100 clinical studies of various types as the coordinating center and reviews over 500 protocols a year on average.

As a lead review unit, the hospital will exercise primary review in multicenter clinical studies, avoiding duplicate review and helping to harmonize regional ethics review standards.
