How Can a Veteran Hospital's “Signature Formulas” Benefit More People? Longhua Launches TCM Preparation Center

On September 19, at the high-quality scientific innovation and translation conference of Longhua Hospital Affiliated to Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, the hospital announced the official launch of its TCM Preparation Inheritance and Innovation Center. The center will become a TCM preparation hub integrating preparation production and compounding, research translation, pharmaceutical services and talent training, aiming to solve the dilemma whereby in-hospital preparations have “formulas but no medicine, formulas but no dosage forms.” On the same day, the TCM Formula-Syndrome Large Model, jointly built by Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Longhua Hospital and other institutions, was officially opened for access. Drawing on decades of data accumulation and the experience of renowned physicians, it covers clinical decision support, research data mining and TCM talent training, and will be deployed across the hospital's campuses, national regional medical centers and the city's medical consortium institutions so that ordinary people can conveniently benefit from master physicians' expertise at the grassroots level.

Hospital President Chen Xinlin said both platforms are important components of the National Medical Center project. The conference also held six sub-forums, including one commemorating the 110th anniversary of the birth of Gu Bohua and the high-quality development of TCM surgery.
