Longhua Hospital Wins Three Awards at the 16th Shanghai TCM Science and Technology Awards

On January 6, the Shanghai Association of Chinese Medicine held the 16th Shanghai TCM Science and Technology Awards ceremony, where Longhua Hospital took home three prizes. The project led by Professor Wang Chen, “System Construction and Practice of Diagnosing and Treating Perianal Necrotizing Fasciitis Based on Gu's Surgery Theory of ‘Futuo Xinsheng’ (removal of the decayed and generation of the new),” won first prize in the scientific and technological achievements category. The project led by Professor Chen Wei, “Promotion and Application of the Method of Reinforcing Healthy Qi, Detoxifying and Resolving Blood Stasis in Treating Sepsis,” received the achievement promotion award, and the monograph “TCM ‘Huanjing’ (returning essence) Theory and TCM Geriatrics,” edited by Professor Gu Yun, received the book award.
The first-prize project introduced a new disease name, “gangju,” and established an external treatment protocol centered on minimally invasive debridement and drainage, cutting the rate of repeated debridement to 8.97%, far below the 23.1%–41.94% reported in the literature, and used AI to build an early screening, precise assessment and stratified intervention system. Adopted in 23 hospitals nationwide, the system has treated 473 patients, raising the rescue success rate to 91.11% and lowering mortality to 8.89%, while shortening the average hospital stay by 11.5 days and effectively preserving anal function.
