Shanghai-Xinjiang Cooperation Warms Young Hearts: Hospital Delegation Brings Technical Collaboration and Free Screening to Kunlun People's Hospital

Ahead of the Mid-Autumn Festival, a medical team from Shanghai Children's Hospital, together with the Qingshan Charity Foundation, traveled to Kashgar in Xinjiang, signed a technical cooperation agreement with Kunlun People's Hospital in the Caohu project area of the XPCC-local integration development zone, and launched the Xinjiang leg of the “Qingshan Charity Tour: Gesang Protects Young Hearts” public welfare screening program. Free screening for congenital diseases was completed for more than 300 children at Shache County People's Hospital, Yecheng County Maternal and Child Health Hospital and the Caohu project area. On the morning of September 12, the two sides jointly unveiled the plaques for “Shanghai Children's Hospital Technical Cooperation Unit” and “Shanghai Children's Hospital Heart Center Kunlun Branch.” The hospital sent eight specialists — Chen Xuqin (neurology), Huang Yanjie (TCM), Zhu Hongbin (heart center), Zhan Qijia (neurosurgery), Ye Haiyun (ophthalmology), Jiao Qin (orthopedics) and Wang Jing (otolaryngology, head and neck surgery), among others.

From September 10, they carried portable screening equipment to run free clinics, screening nearly 80 children in Caohu city, and agreed with local partners on an annual assistance list, bringing Shanghai's high-quality pediatric services to the doorstep of families in the border region.
