Longhua Hospital Researchers Excel at 2nd National Health Sector Youth Innovation Competition

Young researchers from Longhua Hospital have won excellence awards at the second “Chuang Qingchun” National Health Sector Youth Innovation Competition. Sun Yueli, associate researcher at the Institute of Spine Diseases, entered the project “LonghuaHarmony: A Smart TCM Structured Health Management Platform for Chronic Musculoskeletal Disorders Based on ‘Three-Point Differentiation.’” Supported by platforms including a key construction unit of the National Medical Center and the Ministry of Education Key Laboratory of Musculoskeletal Theory and Treatment, the team developed China's first multimodal digital twin model of the spine, comprising “Bianque AI” for automatic segmentation and quantification of spinal and spinal cord images, “Jingu AI” (musculoskeletal AI) for MRI and ultrasound muscle group segmentation, and “Zhengti AI” (bone-setting AI) for assessing fine motor activity and balance. Its core knowledge base derives from TCM master Shi Qi's theoretical system of internal medicine of bone in Chinese medicine.

The platform has been deployed in medical consortium units, generating 14 published papers and monographs and 26 licensed patents and software copyrights. Yin Yulian, associate chief physician in the TCM breast department, also received an excellence award for a clinical standard protocol using Gu's external shengdan preparation to treat refractory wounds.
